Educational Migrants: a Special Type of Cross - Border Migration

This paper positions knowledge migrants in the context of cross-border migration. This type of migrants is often staying abroad on a temporary basis. This holds especially for young highly-skilled people who move to another country for enhancing their research skills or for educational purposes. The paper sketches the issues concerned and provides empirical information from a study on young temporary knowledge migrants to The Netherlands. It addresses in particular the motives and satisfaction of these young migrants.
