Adaptive rectangular spiral acquisition technique for planar near-field antenna measurements

2013
An adaptive sampling technique to minimize the measurement burden in planar near-field measurements is described. The proposed approach acquires near-field data in the form of rectangular rings and skips data points from smoothly varying near-field regions. Sample spacing much greater than λ/2 can be employed depending on the near-field distribution. A signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) based decision function is used for skipping the measurement points and the near field is processed using Fast Irregular Antenna Field Transformation Algorithm (FIAFTA).
