Scattering of low-energy ions from the surface of a W(211) single crystal

2006
Low-energy ion scattering has been used to study the (211) surface plane of bcc tungsten single crystal. It has been shown that the scattering of 4He+ ions from this plane in the case of normal incidence has some specific features that manifest themselves in the appearance of additional peaks in the mass spectrum. Each peak can be explained based on specific mechanisms of scattering, such as reionization of neutralized helium ions or multiple inelastic scattering in the same crystallographic direction.
