Discussion on installation technology of OPGW

The installation technology of OPGW is based on IEEE1 1 38- 1 994and IEEE542 - 1 992 standards,and the relative regulations developed by the power administration for the intalla- tion of overhead powerlines.A construction company mustformulatedetailed“OPGW construction plan”and operation regulations before construction.According to experience this paper describes the main equipment,the preparation of installation sites for OPGW installation,the transportation and in situ inspection of OPGW and its hardwares,and safety training ect.Especially some opera- tion technologiesforthe installation of OPGW,such aspulling deployment,tightnessand slack ob- servation,the installation of various hardwares and accessories,end preparation of stainless steel optical fiber unitsand placement of junction box,are presented in detail.
