Improving The Player's Recruiting Process By Using Scenario Based Analysis Methodology

2016
High performance physical characteristics can be found today in most of the potential recruits for any given athletic program. It has become increasingly difficult to select the right candidate based solely on physical or mental characteristics. There is growing need for a recruiter to evaluate the decision-making (DM) capability of a player in order to differentiate between predicted levels of performance. The scenario based analysis (SBA) methodology is a unique approach to evaluating such decision-making capabilities while enabling any recruiting process to customize the potential candidate evaluation, based on its specific program needs. The proposed methodology provides a platform for decision making evaluation within a specific sport position through the utilization of game theory approach and quality engineering practices. In particular, the method assesses decisions that a player would make based on being given certain game scenarios and as a result, identifies the player decision making type. The implementation of the SBA methodology could significantly enhance the recruitment process capability to find the right recruit for the right position, which can ultimately influence the performance level of the athletic program as a whole.
