Safeguard your dairy cows : production

2013
Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by moulds and may be present on all types of vegetal raw materials used in feeds, at a very low dosage. The common concentrations are in parts per million or ppm. Mycotoxins are well-known for their effects on monogastric animals but ruminants, until recently, were considered "protected" owing to the detoxification action of rumen flora. However, recent scientific studies have shown that only 20 to 30% of mycotoxins are really detoxified in the rumen.
