Scattering Cell Division and Modeling for Bottom Reverberation in Bistatic Sonar

The performance of bistatic sonar is influenced by the bottom interface side-scattering area.However,scattering cell division and calculation is rarely reported.Therefore,an algorithm of scattering cell division for bottom interface side-scattering in bistatic sonar is proposed and the bottom reverberation model in bistatic sonar based on SSA scattering strength is developed.With this algorithm,the side-scattering area is estimated effectively and the changing rule of bottom interface side-scattering area with time,receiving direction and receiving beam width are obtained.The simulation results show that this algorithm is feasible and can offer effective model for performance evaluation and reasonable configuration of bistatic sonar.
