A stochastic model of the soil pore space
1995
A model based on a logarithmic pore size distribution with the properties of a Wiener random process, depending on the particle-size composition and density of the soil, is presented. Logarithmic distribution functions of the porosity distribution and the bulk infiltration coefficient are derived. The fractal dimension of the pore space is calculated from the variation in water retentivity or from the particle-size composition of the soil. A power-law equation relating the infiltration coefficient to the porosity of the soil is also derived.
