Survey on 6LoWPAN Security Protocols in IoT Communication

2020
Internet of Things (IoT) is a subsequently a big evolution in the field of networking ground. The main idea of IoT is to link every day used items (which have the ability of sensing and actuation) to the Internets with or without human intervention. Security is one of the main challenges in this growing IoT field. Gartner predicted that 25 billion IoT will be in use by the year 2020. Various solutions exist in the literature to address the security provisioning issues at each layer separately against the corresponding attack. The solution may be cryptographic-based or non-cryptography based. This paper gives the systematic description of these solutions for 6LoWPAN layer with the suitable taxonomy. As the IoT devices have a very small computational power and low memory, the related protocol at 6LoWPAN are compared using appropriate comparison parameters such as latency, energy consumption, reliability, throughput, security services, attacks, and technique/method.
