A New Approach for Understanding the Mechanism of Butadiene and Butenol Reactions with Pd(TPPTS)3 Catalyst in Water

2010
The complex Pd(TPPTS)3 reacts in water at room temperature with butenols (ionization) or butadiene (protonation) to produce two isomeric hydrosoluble η3-allylic palladium complexes ([Pd(syn-C4)(TPPTS)2]+ and [Pd(anti-C4)(TPPTS)2]+) and three isomers of butenylphosphonium salts of TPPTS. The pH has a great influence on the reaction rates and on the stability of the products.
