Osteoartrite Güncel Yaklaşım

2013
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive non-inflammatory joint disease that affects particularly cartilage within all structures of the joint. Diagnosis of osteoarthritis is confirmed with clinical and radiological findings. Its incidence rises with age. The joints most frequently affected by osteoarthritis are; knees, hips, spine, distal and proximal interphalangial joints of the hands, first carpometacarpal joint and first metatarsophalengial joint. Typically OA is presented with activity related or mechanical joint pain in earlier periods, while pain may also occur during rest in advanced disease. Treatment modalities for OA are pharmacological, non-pharmacological, intra-articular and surgical. The management of OA should be tailored for each patient and treatment guidelines should be taken into consideration.
