Interaction between parasite and tick vector

1990
Abstract Interaction of tick vectors with Borrelia species including B. burgdorferi , rickettsias and piroplasms has been demonstrated by describing selected phenomena. In particular, the various environments inside the tick vector have been considered, including the midgut lumen, gut epithelial cells, body cavities and tissues. Intracellular parasitism occurs in different compartments of the host cell: parasitophorous vacuoles ( Anaplasma marginale ), phagolysosomes ( Coxiella spp.), cytoplasm ( Rickettsia , spp. piroplasms) or nucleus (some rickettsiae).
