High Definition Printing

Screen ruling for offset printings used to be 175 lines/inch (lpi) at most, but high definition printing which uses finer ruling (300-1, 000 lpi) to achieve high print quality has become hot issues for several years in Japan. It is moving from a trial stage to commercial use ; It is now often seen in the high-quality printings and this current will continue.This paper is to describe today's trend of the high definition printing and its influence on print quality. Technical subjects are also mentioned regarding to film-making, plate-making, and printing process along with the quality of paper required for the high definition printing.
