Uso de psicotrópicos e a influência no cotidiano das pessoas de um município do interior do Piauí

This study aims to understand the influence of the use of psychotropic drugs in the daily life of the population of a city in the interior of Piaui, in order to understand which medications are most used and their influence on the quality of life of users. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, carried out with 51 patients who use psychotropic drugs for a period of six months or more, registered and monitored in three Family Health Strategy in the city of Sao Francisco do Piaui-PI, where data were collected through medical records available in the Family Health Strategy, in addition to a semi-structured interview script developed by the researchers. The results obtained in this research show that the use of psychotropic drugs is more common in females (66.7%) from 40 to 59 years of age (41.2%), singles (54.9%) who declared themselves to be brown (52.9%) with low education level (66.7%). Regarding the most prescribed drugs, Sertraline (27.7%) stands out, followed by Diazepam (21.4%). Regarding the time of use of these medications, (58.8%) reported using them for a year or more. Of the total respondents, (80.4%) deny smoking or perform any physical activity. In addition, the participants were also asked about the improvements observed after the start of treatment, where it was possible to observe that (82.4%) of the patients reported having observed an improvement in their quality of life and emotional well-being. With the elaboration of this work, it was possible to conclude that there is a need for a holistic monitoring of psychotropic drug users by the multidisciplinary team, that is, knowing the psychological disorders aligned with the profile of users and their pathology is extremely important for a qualified approach. Thus, it is necessary to develop more research that addresses the use of these drugs and their influence on the daily lives of users.
