Device for consolidating and compacting a material of transportable fibers

In a device intended to consolidate and compact a mat of transportable fibers, for example cotton, chemical fibers or similar fibers, there is provided at least one transport device in endless revolution, for example consisting of two cylinders, the outer sides are able to transport the fiber mat and are provided with elements which come into engagement with the fiber mat while acting on the fiber mat so as to consolidate and compact it. In order to allow a high consolidation speed and a stronger consolidation, at least one of the cylinders 21, 22 has on its outer surface, profiled elements 21a, 22a, and the fiber mat passing between the cylinders 21, 22 is consolidated and compacted by compression of the converging cylinders 21, 22 and of the profiled elements 21a, 22a.
