Applied Anatomy and Physiology of Trachea, Bronchus and Esophagus

2021
The trachea, bronchus and esophagus are all locate in the mediastinum. Mediastinumis generic is a term of the organs, structures and connective tissues between the right and the left mediastinum pleura. Figures 20.1 and 20.2 illustrates the relationship among the trachea, the bronchi and the esophagus clearly. Set sternal angle as bounder line, divide the mediastinum into upper mediastinum (Fig. 20.3) and inferior mediastinum. The inferior mediastinum contains three parts whose bounder is pericardium, anterior, middle and posterior parts. The trachea settles at the upper mediastinum, and the esophagus settle at the post mediastinum.
