Joint adsorption of nitrogen dioxide and of the oxides N/sub 2/O and NO on H-mordenite

1982
The results of a study of the dynamics of adsorption from the mixture N/sub 2/O/sub 4/reverse arrow..-->..2NO/sub 2/, N/sub 2/, N/sub 2/O showed that displacement adsorption of N/sub 2/O/sub 4/ proceeds rapidly. The effective bed height h, found from the breakthrough curves with the aid of the Michaels equation is 0.05-0.12 m and increases slightly with increase of the gas velocity w. The average degree of saturation of the equilibrium capacity was 90%. The data obtained in this investigation formed the basis for the design of a scheme for recovery of nitrogen dioxide from gas emissions of an experimental power plant using a dissociating coolant based on nitrogen dioxide.
