NON-STANDARD, NON-HOUSEHOLD SURVEYS. IN: TRANSPORT SURVEY QUALITY AND INNOVATION

2003
The chapter examines the potential use of non-household surveys, and discusses survey techniques and identifies situations where they should be used because they appear more appropriate than household surveys. Listed are the following types of non-household surveys: in-vehicle public transport surveys; roadside surveys; mode change location surveys; activity site surveys; workplace surveys; on-street and hall-test surveys; and general in-transit surveys. Also provided are following examples of promising application areas: congestion pricing survey; assessing the impact on transport of a population that is growing younger; and assessing the potential use of a new transport mode.
