Compass-based vehicle location system

Disclosed is a remote keyless entry system that includes a remote keyless remote controls, which can selectively communicate by radio with a vehicle locking system. The radio closing handheld transmitter comprises an integrated electronic compass and a logic element, which is configured to store a first compass direction when the closing radio-transmitter is activated and directed at a target. The logic is further configured to display a return compass direction and a return distance to the vehicle locking system when the radio transmitter-closing when leaving the target is activated.
