Process for manufacturing by electrochemical route to a polymeric film and screen comprising such a film

1990
A method of manufacturing an electrochemically polymeric film and screen comprising such a film. This method of producing a polymeric film is to prepare an emulsion consisting essentially of an electrodepositable insulating elastomer having a carbon skeleton bearing from 1 to 5 mol% of anionic groups grafted acting as a dopant and organic stabilizers agents of the emulsion, dispersed in a protic solvent at neutral or acid pH; adding to the emulsion an electropolymerisable monomer, immersing in the mixture (4) obtained an anode (6) and a cathode (8) and applying a constant current density between the anode and the cathode to cause deposition on the anode of a composite film (12) electronically conductive polymer and interpenetrating elastomer, the elastomer and monomer concentration in the mixture being such that the composite film contains 0.1 to 20 wt% conductive polymer. This film is designed to absorb microwaves.
