A method (200) for a SUPL Location Platform (150), the method comprising: receiving (202) from an agent Location Secure User Plano SUPL (170) a request for position estimates for a terminal enabled SUPL SET (120); providing (204) a start message of SUPL Location Platform, SLP (150) to the SET to start a location session, including the startup message service capacity of the SLP; receiving (2) the SET capabilities from the SET; communicating (210) with the SET for determining at least an estimate of the position of the SET; and send (212) the at least one position estimate to SUPL agent; and wherein service capabilities include capabilities of the SLP protocol SLP positioning.
