Ann Lawson Lucas lectures in the Italian Department of the University of Hull, U.K. Her research field is nineteenth-century children's literature, especially the work of Carlo Collodi and Emilio Salgari, the leading writer of travel and adventure novels for children. She translated and edited The Adventures of Pinocchio for Oxford University Press's World Classics series. She recently served as a Board member of the International Research Society for Children's Literature.
