Effects of Cotton Leaf Trichomes on the Mobility of Newly Hatched Tobacco Budworms (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)
1984
We observed movements of newly hatched tobacco budworm larvae, Heliothis virescens (F.), on upper and lower leaf surfaces and petioles of four cotton ( Gossypium hirsutum L.) strains. This study revealed that pubescence provides a mechanism of resistance to movement of newly hatched larvae.
