Effect of Drought Stress on Physiological and Biochemical Characteristics in Drepanostachyum luodianense

2013
Taken the seedlings of Drepanostachyum luodianense as the materials, the indexes of physiological and biochemical characteristics were analyzed under different water treatments, including 60%(low drought stress,LD),40%(moderate drought stress,MD),20%(severe drought stress,SD)of field capacity, and 80%(control,CK)of field capacity as the control. After 70 days of drought stress, the results showed that the osmotic substances including soluble sugar, soluble protein and proline presented ascending trend under LD,the ascending range was significant under LD or SD,and proline had obvious accumulation. With the increasing of drought stress, the content of MDA declined slowly, the plasma membrane of D.luodianense did not change obviously;the activities of SOD remains almost the same;the activities of POD rose gradually;the activity of CAT rose at first and lowered later, the increasing extent was relatively small. We concluded that D.luodianense could endure and adapt to drought stress in some extents through physiological and biochemical mechanisms, especially through increasing the content of osmotic substances and coordinating the activity of protective enzymes.
