TRPM2 cation channel regulates detrimental immune cell invasion in ischemic stroke

2014
wogonin, two compounds having immunomodulatory effects on macrophage infiltration, glial cell activation and cytokine production, were found to have an anti-seizure effect. Treatment of TMEV-infected B6 mice with wogonin resulted in fewer mice having seizures and lowered the numbers of IL-6-producing macrophages infiltrating the CNS. We are extending these studies to determine whether the spontaneous recurrent seizures (epilepsy) will be inhibited by such anti-inflammatory therapies in combination with conventional antiseizure therapies.
