Study of primordial radionuclide distribution in sand samples of Agastheeswaram taluk of Kanyakumari district, India

2005
Abstract The activity concentrations of the three primordial radionuclides have been measured in the sand samples of Agastheeswaram taluk using NaI(Tl) gamma ray spectrometer. The average activities of 232 Th, 238 U and 40 K have been found to be 5787.15, 1082.90 and −1 (BDL), respectively. The calculated annual effective dose is 4.78 mSv year −1 and the results are discussed in this paper.
