Therapeutic Effect of Extracts from Root of Urtica dioica on Prostatic Hyperplasia in Mice

OBJECTIVE To observe the therapeutic effect of extracts from the root of Urtica dioica on prostatic hyperplasia in mice.METHODS Experimental prostatic hyperplasia was produced in the mouse by testosterone injection.The prostate index and pathology changes of prostatic tissues were observed.RESULTS The extracts from roots of Urticadioica decreased prostate index,volume and wet weight of prostatic in mice and improved their prostatic structure.CONCLUSION The extracts from roots of Urticadioica have favorable effect for inhibiting prostatic hyperplasia in mice.
