Stressed and strained condition and strength of the cemented carbide inserts of new types of rock-breaking cutters. Report 1
1989
Calculations were made by the finite element method of the stressed and strained condition and strength of RPP-2 and RKS-3 cemented carbide inserts in relation to their orientation in cutting. The calculated fields of displacements, strains, and stresses from the action of the concentrated load applied to the tip of the angle of the cutting edges were obtained for different angles of orientation. At the same time the zones of dangerous tensile stresses were determined. The results of calculations for RPP-2 and RKS-3 cemented carbide inserts were analyzed. An evaluation is given of the influence of the design parameters of the inserts on their stressed and strained condition and strength. Recommendations are made for improving the design of the inserts and selection of the angle of fastening of them in the holder. The basic requirements for an optimum insert are formulated.
