Rolling Element Bearing Fault Diagnosis Based on EEMD and Index of Envelope Spectrum Sparse Ratio

In order to overcome the problems of low accuracy in rolling element bearing fault identification, a new index named envelope spectrum sparse ration (ESSR) based on the sparse representation of envelope spectrum is proposed. This method used to realize quantitative envelope spectrum analysis by calculating the ratio of the fault frequency amplitude to the mean value of other frequency amplitudes. Moreover, the ESSR is also employed to select the most informative intrinsic mode function (IMF) derived from the EEMD of fault vibration signal. Finally, both the simulation and the experiment data demonstrate the validation of the ESSR, which could help to find the optimal IMF in the rolling element bearing fault diagnosis.
