The role of twinning in tension relaxation during crystal growth and deformation structure formation under a point load with an yttrium aluminum garnet singlecrystal as an example by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray topography and modeling were examined. It was shown that twining processes are the main mechanism in the course formation and plastic deformation of cubic high-melting oxides.
