An Empirical Study on Corporate Sustainable Development Strategies of Wuhan City Circle: Based on the Perspective of Core Competitiveness

This paper studies the mechanism that how core competitiveness impacts on sustainable development based on the perspective of Wuhan City Circle. Conclusions show that core competitiveness has a significant positive impact on sustainable development; and its three dimensions also have significant positive impacts on sustainable development; furthermore, market opportunity competence and environmental uncertainty significantly and positively moderate the relationship between core competitiveness and sustainable development. INTRODUCTION Along with the economic globalization and the accelerated course of the integration of regional economy, how to promote regional economic integration among Wuhan City Circle, which is especially important for Wuhan to take part in China's Western Development Program. Accordingly, companies of Wuhan City Circle should avail themselves of various policies and resource, and step onto their sustainable development paths. Corporate sustainable development hangs on its core competitive advantage. Porter (1985) indicated that competitive advantage roots in the value that a company creates for its customers that exceeds the corresponding costs (1). Therefore, a company must gain its extended competitive advantage to achieve its sustainable development. As a result, it must construct and forge its own core competitiveness. Academia similar to many businesses fields, have paid attentions on corporate core competitiveness and sustainable development, but existent literatures are short of more deliberate pectination on the inherent mechanism of their relationship. Moreover, most of researches in such fields fastened on qualitative analysis, and the reliability of their conclusions are worthy of farther examination. Therefore, this paper based on the perspective of Wuhan City Circle, empirically studies the mechanism of core competitiveness impacting on sustainable development, so as to supplement the insufficiency of existent researches, and provides a reference for corporate competitive practice.
