Non-traumatic Coma and Status Epilepticus in Infants and Children

In the last 20 years, significant advances have taken place in the management of children with acute, non-traumatic cause of encephalopathy. In many instances, current practice reflects a growing understanding of pathophysiological changes which occur in the central nervous system (CNS) in disease. Furthermore, we no longer gauge successful management merely in terms of survival, but more importantly the emphasis is also on quality of neurological outcome.
