Structural state of zirconium surface layers after laser alloying by titanium and nickel

2015
Structure of zirconium after laser alloying by titanium and nickel powders mixture was investigated by X-ray analysis, optical metallography and scanning electron microscopy. It was found that variation in chemical composition of alloying substance led to significant changes in phase composition of laser alloying zone. Ultra high cooling rate from liquid state during laser treatment caused dispersion of structure which was obtained in zirconium surface layers and affected by substantial magnification of collective micro-hardness in laser alloying zone.
