Knowledge of the metallurgical relationships and experience with this material and its forerunners have shown that strengthening measures with special care during welding and heat treatment have to be carried out. Analysis of several suspected defects has shown that the majority of faults have occurred after more than 100 000 operating hours and a life of over 25 years. It should be possible to carry out targetted testing for early detection and effective countermeasures.
