Diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue

Abstract The most common skin conditions are various types of dermatitis or chronic inflammatory or immunological reactions in the skin. Dermatitis involves rashes, pain, and skin injuries. This chapter includes common chronic and severe forms of dermatitis—atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Both conditions are characterized by the activation of autoimmune reactions involving overactive T-helper cells and share common symptoms.
