A Cluster Head Rotation Cooperative MIMO Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks

2015
Energy and communication efficiency are key limitations of wireless sensor networks. Multiple sensor nodes can form virtual antenna array which is called cooperative MIMO that can improve the bandwidth efficiency by using multiple antennas. A typical way of using CMIMO in WSNs is cluster-based, which selects cluster heads for long distance communication between clusters. In this paper, a cluster head rotation scheme is introduced to save energy in re-clustering and balance the energy consumption among different nodes. The simulation results show that the total energy consumption can be reduced and the network can work stably until the prolonged life time goes up.
