Changes in Fetal Myocardial Glycogen during Hypoxia Induced by Maternal Acute Hemorrhagic Shock

2010
Fetal and maternal metabolic and hemodynamic changes, with special reference to fetal myocardial glycogen, were investigated during hypoxia induced by maternal acute hemorrhage. Myocardial glycogen gradually decreased during the hypotensive period to nearly half the initial control value. Linear relationships were observed between miocardial glycogen and fetal pH and fetal heart rate. The role of myocardial glycogen in cardiac function and its metabolic changes during hyposica were evaluated.
