Investigation and development of custom-designed calibration substrates: An introduction

This paper describes the development and verification of a custom-designed calibration substrate using Rosenberger RPC-series PCB connectors in E-Band. The design includes the optimization of the PCB footprint and the investigation of reliable calibration methods. The knowledge gained from latter calibration measurements is then used to adapt EM-simulation models for robust and reliable RF-designs. Finally the benefits of application based calibration are summarized.
