Ground-based and space observations of planetary thunderstorm activity

After twenty-five years of study on Saturn electrostatic discharges (SED) with the aid of spacecrafts (Voyager I, II, Cassini) the first successful ground-based observations with radio telescopes UTR-2 were carried out. The result was unambiguous registration of 70 events by ground-based instrument [1] (Konovalenko et al, 2009) during the storm E, which lasted about a month in January-February 2006 [2].
