Corrigendum to “Modeling Smallholder Farmers' Preferences for Soil Management Measures: A Case Study from South Ethiopia” [Ecol. Econ. 145 (2018) 410–419]

2019
The authors of the above article acknowledge that their work was based in part on a methodological framework set forth in an earlier paper by Tesfaye and Brouwer (2012). The article stated that “In the context of Ethiopia, however, to the best of our knowledge, we are not aware of any empirical research that applied a combination of contract theory and choice modeling to investigate farmer's preferences to different soil management practices on the basis of hypothetical but realistic contractual arrangements” (p. 412). The Tesfaye and Brouwer study, however, was framed specifically in those terms with a focus on Ethiopia. In related work, the lead author of the present article collaborated with Brouwer and others in applying this approach to the study of water harvesting technology (Tarfasa et al. 2017). The novelty of the above article lay in applying this framework to the study of private soil-fertility management and farm households' behavior with respect to soil conservation at the community scale.
