Blisters on the sun-exposed area: as a clue for underlying hepatitis C virus infection

A 45-year-old woman presented with recurrent fluid-filled blisters over hands, feet, forearm and face for the last 5 years. Blisters ruptured with minor trauma or spontaneously after 6–7 days. Lesions aggravated on exposure to sunlight. There was a history of dark-coloured urine. Clinical examination revealed multiple well-defined superficial moist erosions over dorsal aspect of hands, feet, forearm and face healing with postinflammatory hypopigmentation along with scars. Additionally, she had hypertrichosis and melisma-like pigmentation over the face (figure 1A–C).
