DEVELOPMENT STATUS OF PERSONNEL PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR THE IFMIF/EVEDA ACCELERATOR

The IFMIF/EVEDA prototype accelerator consists of Injector (Output: 100keV), 175MHz RFQ (a 4-vain type; Output: 5MeV), Superconductive Linac (SC HWR-Linac; Output: 9MeV) and the other sub-systems. In the engineering validation, the acceleration with deuteron beam of 125mA will be tested up to 9MeV at the CW mode operation. The IFMIF/EVEDA accelerator building was completed in March 2010, therefore we started making and installation the PPS equipments for the building management. The PPS is required to protect technical and engineering staff against unnecessary exposure, electrical shock hazard and the other danger phenomena. The PPS has two functions of the building management and the accelerator management. For both functions, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), monitoring cameras, emergency switches and etc. are used for interlock system, and a sequence is programmed for entering and leaving of the controlled area. This article presents the development status of PPS in details.
