Determination of iron ion utilizing poly (p-vinylbenzoylacetone) modified micro-electrode

1998
Abstract A porous micro-electrode with immobilized poly ( p -vinylbenzoylacetone) (PVBA) was developed for measuring iron ion. A porous carbon material was packed into the tip of the platinum micro-electrode with a cavity at the top. The porous micro-electrode was dipped in the coating tetrahydrofuran solution with PVBA and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate and dried overnight at room temperature. Calibration curve for the measurement of iron, the effects of preconcentration condition, scan rate, pH, and temperature, and lifetime of the PVBA modified micro-electrode were examined. Under optimal conditions, the response of the sensor was linear in the concentration range of 0.01–1 mM for iron ion.
