Weathering of Leinster granite under ambient atmospheric conditions

1995
Abstract The weathering of Leinster granite under ambient atmospheric conditions has been studied. Specially constructed sampling devices, called ‘micro-catchment units’, were installed to sample runoff water. The chemical composition of the runoff water, as well as of individual particles in the runoff, has been determined and interpreted. In addition, the stone material itself was studied by micro-analysis after 3 years of sheltered and unsheltered exposure. Very little material loss was noted, but some structural changes were observed after unsheltered exposure.
