In 2017, Dublin was below average for mortality for all ages due to alcohol related causes (53.3 per 100,000 population, National 58.6). In 2017, the percentage of potential years of life lost (PYLL) from selected alcohol related causes was average for females (294.1 per 100,000 population, National 298.2) and below average for males (884.9 per 100,000, National 1006.1). In 2017, Dublin was below average for hospital admission rates for mental and behaviour disorders due to alcohol (70.0 per 100,000 population, National 83.7) and above average for alcoholic liver disease (50.7 per 100,000, National 36.5). In 2017, Dublin was below average for psychiatric in-patient rates for alcohol disorders for first admissions (5.4 per 100,000 population, National 9.2) and above average for all admissions (32.5 per 100,000 population, National 24.1). In 2017, Dublin had an average alcohol treatment rate of 132.8 per 100,000 (National 153.2). In January 2019, Dublin ranked 24th number of liquor licenses with 201.1 per 100,000 population (National 273.1). In 2017, the rate of alcohol related offences in Dublin was one of the lowest for drink driving offences at 102.7 per 100,000 population, was average for disorderly conduct offences and also had one of the lowest rates of liquor licensing offences at 6.4 per 100,000 compared to the National rates (drink driving 153.8 per 100,000, disorderly conduct 528.4 and liquor licensing offences 17.3 respectively).
