Semantic differentiation of the compound verbs consisting of the prefix iz- in the standard Serbian

The paper deals with the semantics of the compound verbs consisting of the prefix IZ- in the standard Serbian language. The research, based on the material excerpted from the SANU Dictionary, has established a high degree of semantic differentiation of the verbs consisting of this prefix. In total nine semantic realizations have been differentiated within the three basic semantic groups. The compound double-prefixed (rarely triple-prefixed) verbs are formed by attaching the prefix IZ- to already prefixed verbs. The prefix IZ- enters into interaction with the prefixes NA-, PO-, PRE-, PRO- and RAZ-.
