Otitis media — Closed techniques
1985
Closed techniques in chronic middle ear surgery follow the principle of closed aeration of the middle ear, including the mastoid. In contrast to acute mastoiditis where antrostomy is also done to provide re-aeration, preservation and improvement of tubal function in cholesteatoma needs a special technique, which was introduced in 1958 by the author.
