Proteomics advances in esophageal carcinoma

2009
As the completion of draft sequence of the human genome, the stride from genetic research to that at protein level has been an imperative and novel task in life science.Proteomics,a new branch of science,is the large-scale study of proteins, particularly their structures and functions, which has been applied into the exploration of mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of tumors.Investigation of the occurrence and metastasis as well as novel proteins and specific markers of esophageal cancer and exploration of drug targets play essential roles in the diagnosis and therapy of esophageal cancer. In this paper,we reviewed the progression in the proteome researches about the occurrence of esophageal cancer.
