Multidetector CT Diagnosis Of Splenic Solid Tumors

2011
Objective To discuss the role of Multi-detector CT in the evaluation of splenic solid tumors.Materials and Methods CT findings of 16 patients with splenic solid tumors confirmed by histopathology, biopsy or surgery were retrospectively analyzed, and also double-blinded reviewed by two radiologists.Statistical analysis were evaluated by Fisher exact test and paired t test. Results There were no significant difference in size, number and pattern of tumors as well as spleen size(P0.05),while subject's symptoms, ring enhancement of lesions and lymph nodes in the mesentery and retroperitoneum were significantly different(P0.05).The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value(PPV) and negative predictive value(NPV) of CT in differentiating benign from malignant tumors were 77.8%,85.7%,87.5%,75%.Conclusion Multi-detector CT can be used to reliably discriminate between benign and malignant splenic solid tumors,it will obviate the need of splenectomy for some benign tumors and helpful to therapy for lymphoma.
