Analysis on Assemblability of Impeller Assembly Structure

In order to understand mechanism of"bending shaft"during and after assembly occurred in the closed impeller assembly of large turbine compressor and to avoid this fault,an impeller assembly was studied by using FEM and the nonlinear contact theory.The magnitude and distribution of stress on the contact area between the hub and shaft were examined from end of assembly process until it became steady. Based on the obtained data,the structure of the impeller assembly was optimized to rationalize the contact stress distribution and its assemblability.The whole compressor test with the improved impeller assembly demonstrates that the fault rate of"bending shaft"has been reduced substantially.
